QBBQ (Queen B's Beauty Quest)

I really like beauty products. I used to hoard them. But then I decided to simplify.

So now I just dream about hoarding them.

From time to time, I've decided that I am going to select a particular beauty product category and see which products you prefer.

Because I am out of things to blog about.

And it will add new paraphernalia to my hoarding dreams.

And I might find something more wonderful than I can imagine.

Let's begin with facial cleansers.

I've tried many of them. I have different degrees of favorite, depending upon my current disposable income.

Which is zero since I don't actually have a job.

So, let's say that it's due to my current stipend from The King.

My all-time favorite if money and availability were no object would be Bobbi Brown's Lathering Tube Soap. What else do I need to say besides lathering? Plus, it smells divine. Did I mention it lathers? And smells divine?

I've also been a fan of this Murad cleanser. But that was before I met Mr. Lather. So it is not my favorite anymore. I just thought it deserved an honorable mention in the moderately pricey category because of our longstanding past relationship.

A product that I often use in the winter when my wrinkles are flaking from the dry air is Cetaphil. Pro: Inexpensive. Con: Teensy bit of a bad smell.

This one is just embarrassing. Neutrogena's Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser. It is so stinkin' wrong to have wrinkles and pimples. So wrong. But every stinkin' once in a while I have to break it out (pun stinkin' intended).

Seeing as how I'm loyal to one product, it may be shocking to find that I use good ole Dove once or twice a week for some reason that has no basis in fact. I just always have. For no good reason.

So what about you? Do you jump around or stick with what works?

Now don't go delving into masks or scrubs or lotions or toners.

They'll have their turn.

But now it's yours. So comment away...

I tend to go with good Ole Dove...I thnk it does well for both my face and head in the cleansing category...I also think it does wonders for my wrinkle reduction, but I am not getting the boost I am looking for on the hair growth and regeneration side. Suggestions?

I prefer Dermalogica's Special Cleansing Gel. I have been using it faithfully for about 4 years and love what it does for my skin.

I love the Timewise cleanser from Mary Kay. I've been using MK for over ten years and love the flexibilty of their skin care line...

Arbonne's Clear Advantage. Because it IS so wrong to have pimples and wrinkles. A little pricey but it works great and doesn't have all the yucky other stuff added to it.

I use Dove for one simple fact. Pretty much all brands seem the same to me and I love Dove's advertising campain.

If I need a product and Dove makes it, I buy it. If Dove made gasoline, I would put it in my car. When I watch other brand's commercials full of super skinny and unrealistically proportioned women, I am sickened at the images that my young nieces are being bombarded with.

Maybe Dove's "every woman is beautiful" campain is just that, a ploy to work on my feelings of outrage and get me to buy their product. Maybe they don't care about young girl's self esteem. If it is just a ploy, it's working with me.

I like Dermalogica's Anti-Bac Cleansing Gel followed by(in the cleansing process) Dermalogica Clay Cleanser. Because apparently no one bothered to tell my oil glands that I am way past the age of puberty and should not be getting "blemishes" IN my wrinkles. I might not complain so much about holding on to this little piece of adolescence if I could also hold on to my waist size from adolescence.....unfortantly, the waist size has abandoned me for a much more "MATURE" girth, while the ACNE has remained.

La, la, la, la, I can't hear you. I totally have addictive tendencies and after reading this post I wanted to run out and buy all those things.

I love The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil Cleanser. The smell is ok, the result is awesome. I would say I have more breakouts than wrinkles, but the wrinkles are rapidly fighting to gain the lead.

First, The King ROCKS!

Second, I use Noxema, which always makes the women at the make-up counter at the mall gasp and faint dead away from the horror. Apparently, it's really drying, but my skin needs REALLY DRYING. I feel you with that whole wrinkles-AND-pimples thing. So it works for me.

Dove or Oil of Olay bar soap with a Buf Puf exfoliating pad... May leave your skin a little dry, but really really cleanses well.

I'm partial to Dove, also. I'm also using the new organic line, Juice Beauty (found at Sephora). Their exfoliator is a big help to me.

I just tried the Timewise from Mary Kay and I really like it, but now I'm out and too lazy to order more. I use Cetaphil in the winter when I'm dry and flaky too, and I also use Noxzema in the shower some mornings when I need that smell to wake me up. And it makes me feel like I am a young, dewy faced Noxzema girl.

I use Proactiv when I'm broken out, which sadly still happens to me. I'm with ya on the wrinkles and zits, there's plenty of room on my face for both.

If cost were no object, I'd use Kinerase. I had a sample of that once and I love that stuff. But, I also like to eat, so no Kinerase for me.

Can you tell I'm a bit of a hoarder too? Or maybe the right word would be sucker.

I just use the Dove. I don't really want to spend extra money on a special face soap. Cheap? Yes. But until they develop a soap that gets rid of the wrinkles, zits and causes me to look 40lbs lighter - I'm sticking with Dove.

I just go with Dove. Mainly because I don't notice a dramatic difference in my skin, no matter what I use. And I figure, why blow a bunch of money for it all to do the same thing? If I use stuff to moisturize, my face is like a oil slick all day, but if I use stuff for oily skin, it looks like the desert. And combination stuff just... doesn't do much of anything.

My mom has impeccable skin, which I did not inherit. She's used hand soap and water her whole life and never has a pimple, blackhead or patch of redness. However, she was nice enough to not pass that along to her lovely daughter. (Don't people have more control over this genetics thing??)

So I'm curious to see what gets posted so I can get some tips!!

I use Philosophy's Purity facial cleanser. Since I keep a bottle in the shower, the husband uses it as well. He would never admit it, but it has helped with his oh-so-dry skin in the winter! For my combination skin, it's worked wonderfully.
I'm also echoing Lisa's love for Kinerase. The samples were the best I've ever used. However, I simply cannot afford the pegasus feathers and gold flakes that they must mix with it. :-)

I'm a Cetaphil gal...started using it last spring when I saw pictures of myself and decided that grey was not a good look for my skin. I do tend to be dry all year, with minimal blemishes, though. Love the fact that I can get a 2 pack at Costco and almost never have to rebuy.

Up until recently I was using basis bar soap because I am prone to breakouts and dry skin. Lucky me. I just discovered the Neutrogena Wave cleaner though and it is amazing. So far I've only seen them at Target or online but they are worth the search. My skin has cleared up and life is good. I sent one to both my mother and stepmother and they love them too.

I tend to try different products. I have rosacea, so I've been on the prowl for that perfect cleanser that will solve all my skin care woes. Right now I use Cetaphil, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's not magic, but it helps.

I am all over the place with some products- But I can't get away from Cliniques foaming face wash- I love it because it is pink and fluffy! and it only takes a dab, so a tube lasts a long time!

O.K. if you are embarrassed by Neutrogena, I should probably not even comment. However, I am currently using a cleanser found at Target (you know the fine french store pronounced Tar jay with a soft j) anyhoo, it is by Boots and I kinda like it. I too jump around.
Bobbi Brown would be great, but I currently have neither the time nor the money to make that happen.

I don't even know what I like! I am too cheap for the expensive products and too picky for the cheap ones... What to do. Thanks for the Neutrogena advice!

I've used MK Timewise for the last four years and its been really good to me. Before that I did Proactive, back before it was $20 but was $40. It worked. In between I had to go cheap and did clearasel.

Cetaphil is really THE BEST stuff on the planet. I cannot believe how much money I used to spend on face cleansers that would just dry out my face and cause blemishes. At $5 a bottle which lasts MONTHS, you really cannot go wrong. I kiss the feet of my derm that recommended it to me 3 years ago! :)

P.S. Their moisturizer
is Fabulous too :)
